Demo Reel Sneak Preview - Animated Chibis!

Well I'm still working away on my demo reel but I thought I'd show you guys a little piece of it. These five flash animations loop in the corner of the screen as other art of the character climbs up the page. They're really short but they are designed to play over and over and over again. :3 -

So anyhow, they're kind of cute :3 Enjoy.

Coming Soon: DEMO REEL!

Most people who know me are aware that the majority of my time right now is going toward my demo reel. But when I tell them this, they don't really know what to imagine. So I thought I'd provide a sneak preview via some screenshots I took of the reel.
-
For those who don't know, a demo reel is a short, 1-3 minute clip that showcases the best work of an artist and/or animator - it's like a portfolio in video form.
-
Here is a screenshot which shows the three parts I'm including in my demo reel. These three bars appear on the screen one by one, and then the selected one turns a different color (much like a dvd menu).
The character design section is what I'm working on right now. Here's a few screenshots:

As you can see, there is three parts to this shot. On the far left is the character turnaround, which loops between a front view, a quarter view, and a side view. On the far right is an animated flash character. These characters are on a "wheel" and rotate in and out. When selected, their animation loops over and over again a few times while the other art is being shown. In the middle is a fully-rendered drawing of the character, which slowly scrolls up in the background.

Here is another example.
-
So yeah, that is what is occupying most of my time. I'll still have some new art for you guys though, as well, so keep stopping by. :3

Falling Leaves & Wish - Poses

Here are my two characters for the contest, again. :)
This pic of Falling Leaves might be familiar to some of my blog visitors... I drew it months ago but have since returned to clean it up and of course add color, shading, and all of that fun stuff.
And here's more Wish!!

Please let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

"Moonlit Dance" - Flash Animation

At last, at last!
Although this clip is only 30 seconds, it represents a long time of diligent work - I've spent about 2-6 hours a week on this thing since December, and now here it is.
-
(click the pic for a link to the youtube vid, or click here)

It was worth the effort for sure. However short it may be, the animation really is my best - I also love to see my two characters, Moon Dancer and Dusk, come to life on the screen.

The animation isn't top-notch yet; I haven't added the inbetweens which would make the motion more fluid. Likely, I will do that in time. The reason I haven't yet is because the due date for submittions to the DMA (Digital Media Arts) showcase was today and I really wanted to show this. :)

I am so glad I finally have an example of good animation to actually show what I can do. I hope you all enjoy this cute little clip.

Falling Leaves - Turnaround

Falling Leaves would like to say hello to you all again... and show you a few more of her "sides." ;)
Those of you who are aware of Falling Leaves' race might notice that something is missing. Where is her tail?! It isn't there because I debated whether not to include it, but finally decided I do want it -- because Falling Leaves wouldn't be Falling Leaves without it -- so I will still be adding that in the future.
-
Please please comment. This one's going in a contest. ;)

Wish

I'd like you all to meet Wish.
You guys can expect to see a lot more art of her soon. Also, there will be more art of Falling Leaves. I wonder why.... ;)

Edit: I changed her eyes a little to add more cuteness factor ;)

Artbook Stuff...

I'm in the process of developing some very neat stuff ... But that's not done yet so I thought I'd just post my recent works for my character artbook. A few turnarounds and concept sketches...nothing in color. But you still might like to give them a look. :)

Chibi Falling Leaves

Who saw this coming?!
Yes... Falling Leaves has now been chibi-fied. But that's not all. I decided to add her to my character artbook last minute after all! However, such a decision was not without a casualty... because it meant someone else had to go. And so...
Poor Analise. But it had to be done. And here's one more pic:

I decided to pose Falling Leaves and Moon Dancer together to serve as a little preview for my just about finished novel, Moon Dancer II, in which both women play key roles. (As you can tell, they don't get along the best.)

Falling for Falling Leaves

Okay, so I admit it... after that first drawing I made of Falling Leaves which I posted on here awhile ago, I couldn't get enough of drawing her. I had truly fallen for Falling Leaves. And at last, I've put together a much deserved full-color render of her in a standing pose...
I allowed myself to be a perfectionist this once...and I really think all my efforts and pickiness paid off. Expect to see this picture reappear at other places I visit across the web.... ;3
-
And of course you can expect a lot more art of her as well. A shame it's too late to include her in my artbook...unless I decide to get her in the back-door somehow (ie. including her in the section about Moon Dancer)...
-
Anyhow, now I'm just babbling... because I am happy that this piccy turned out so well. ^_^

Sanctus

Here's another Wulven character for you all (from my pending novel, Moon Dancer II: The Tale Untold).
Name: Sanctus
Pack: Sol
Rank: Patriarch
Brief Bio: Sanctus is officially the very first person to become a Wulven in all history. Prompted by a desire to depart from the "evils" of human society, Sanctus viewed himself as a pure, untainted being once he was transformed - thus, the name he gave himself. He was left alone with the very first Wulven female, Nocturne, but the two developed a hatred for one another and ended up each founding different packs. At least, that's how the story goes as the Wulven of today tell it...
~
Just fyi, my next post will be another high quality full render... I think you will all like it very much :) So please visit again very soon!

High Quality Full Render - Dusk and Moon Dancer

I'm back with more pretty art for you all. I won't say a lot this time, and let the work speak for itself...

Slowly but surely getting better at this whole painting in photoshop thing. I know the textures are a bit messy on some parts. But overall another work I am proud of.

Falling Leaves

Just in time for autumn, here's a new character from Moon Dancer II: The Tale Untold (my current novel project).
-
Name: Falling Leaves
Race: Wulven
Pack: Terra
Rank: Beta Female
Age: 24
Brief bio: Falling Leaves is the oldest of five children and so often finds herself helping her parents (the alpha couple) handle the responsibility of caring for the others. However, even though she presents herself as happy and care-free, Falling Leaves is not content with her life and feels imprisoned by her role. When she meets Moon Dancer and Dusk, she becomes struck with jealousy at their freedom. She also finds herself attracted to Dusk...
-
I have become fond of this character and I think she looks so cute in this drawing. :)

Chibi Moon Dancer and Dusk

Aw, itty bitty wolfies Moon Dancer & Dusk are dancing the night away. Don't you wish you could join them?
-
In a way, you can! The new, fully revised novel Moon Dancer is now completed in pdf form! Email me at elusive.dreams@yahoo.com to be one of the first to preview the 337-page novel before it is sent to be published. (See my previous posts labeled "Moon Dancer" for a synopsis of the plot.)
-
Also, a secret... I may or may not have begun a new novel which may or may not be the sequel... ^__^

Concept Sketches - Dusk and Moon Dancer

As mentioned before, my mind is fully submerged in the land of my novel, Moon Dancer, which I am fully revising in hopes I can get it published. (Still looking for readers to preview it, by the way! Email me at elusive.dreams@yahoo.com if interested. I will send you the adobe pdf version which is layed out like a real published novel for your reading convenience.)
-
So here's a few new concept sketches of the two main protagonists.
Here's Dusk, the stoic and soft-spoken Wulven male from the Lune Pack. I kind of sort of love these sketches...especially that surprised look in the middle. Aw, Dusk.
And here's our main character, who keeps changing her name throughout the novel - for convenience's sake I will just be calling her the same name as the novel itself, Moon Dancer - the spirited young woman who is seeking her place in the world. Both she and Dusk have many sides - although it takes the two being together to unlock all of them!
-
I have done many, many, many drawings of these two together but have not yet drawn one I find worthy of a full render. But I will keep trying!
-
I'll add that to the list of a million other things I want to make, hehe. Keep checking back if you're curious to see what sort of things I come up with! :3

A return to Moon Dancer

On February 27, 2009, I reached a significant milestone. My fifth full-length novel, Moon Dancer, was completed.
-
7 months later, I return to my treasured story for what I forsee as a good month or so of editing. Why?
-
Because the more I think about it, the more I realize I have to do it - I can't keep this story to myself. I have to try and get it published.
-
Moon Dancer is a story about a lot of things. It's about a girl who is taken from the world she knows into one entirely different. It's about relationships, desires, passions, and goals. It's about a people who live as wolves do, with a matching social hierarchy, lifestyle, and rivalry between packs. Of course there is a love story thrown into the mix.
-
But most of all, it's a story about discovering who you truly are and where you truly belong - something anyone can relate to. And it's a story I want to share with the world, if I can.
-
First, I have to comb out the flaws. ;)
-
In the meantime, enjoy this nice little drawing I put together. If you want to be a HUGE help and read through the novel to share your thoughts and help me improve it, post a comment or shoot me an email at elusive.dreams@yahoo.com.
-
Oh yeah, and I'll have TONS of stuff to post in the near future, so keep checking here! ^.^

Character Drawings - Moon Dancer

I'm in the process of making lots of new stuff, but since they're not done yet, I thought I'd post some old ones. These are the characters from my full-length novel, Moon Dancer, which I finished writing about a month or two ago. In case you're curious, here's a brief synopsis: it is about a group of people called "Wulven" who live in the same way wolves do - they live in packs, follow the "social hierarchy" (Alpha, Beta, etc), hunt to survive, and select mates. The story begins when a girl from our world is transformed into one of them. Thoughout the novel, this girl tries on different identities as she attempts to find her place in the world, and ultimately who she wants to be.
Here I've drawn all the Wulven from both packs. The drawings are messy and (mostly) uncolored, but I might get back to coloring and cleaning them up later.
The Sol Pack:

In order: Blaze, Breeze, Dawn Chaser, Nova, and White Wind (who is holding Cloud)

The Lune Pack:

In order: Dusk, Eclipse, Echo, Storm, and Starfall

And lastly, the Lone Wulven (Ghost):
Not Pictured: Aurora (because I forgot to scan my drawing of her...whoops...I will do that later!) and my main character (Christine/Snow/Rain/Moon Dancer) because believe it or not, I've never drawn her by herself. She's always...well, I'd better not finish that sentence because it's a spoiler!!
-
If any of you are interested in reading my novel, leave a comment or let me know in some other way, because I'd gladly send it to you. It is 12 chapters long and about the same length as a regular novel.
-
Anyhow, I have been doing a lot of thinking about what to do with this blog, so here's what you guys can expect in the near future!
-
First - A humor drawing I threw together just for fun, which should be done tomorrow.
Next will be my two final projects for classes - my Flash Animation final, which is possibly one of the most adorable things I've ever made; I can't wait to show people! And the other will be my Intro to 3d Modeling demo reel - in other words, my very first Maya works. :)
Also, as I keep saying, chapter one of my graphic novel/manga Covenant is still in the works and nearing completion.
Other ideas that I've had: I'm thinking of making special drawings to introduce each character from Covenant, along with a written introduction of the character as well as things about them you wouldn't know from just reading the comic. They might even pose with One-Wing and be interviewed by her - oh, I have so many ideas. Well, we'll just see where I take this.
And a lot more coming too! :)
