"Remmie and the Lab Rats" Character designs

Aside from working on my own projects, I have also been helping out a friend with his. "Remmie and the Lab Rats" is a children's game designed by my friend Jason. Since he just released it today, I've decided to make a post about my contributions. And here are the character designs I put together for it! This little mousie right here is Luke. I hope the kids enjoy helping him solve his problems and defeating the evil cat :)

Just one last reminder: The debut of Covenant Chapter One: Darker than Shadow is only days away!

Weekly Assignment #1 - 10 Figures

In order to ensure we don't lose our skills over the summer, other students from my major have been keeping us working by giving weekly assignments. This one is due today at midnight and it's 11... woo-hoo, one hour early!
Nothing impressive here, just a few pencil sketches... some from life, others from pictures; it's pretty easy to tell which is which.

Another Photoshopped Drawing

After working intensively on Covenant in order to get Chapter One done by next week (!), I decided to take a break and draw a character from a novel I wrote a year ago, the longest and arguably best story I've ever written, Heartwish. This is the main heroine, Kani, a Rhe'nyk. (To find out what that means, ask to read the novel!!)
-
I have lots of new stuff coming up, so here's what to expect from my blog in the next week or so:
- 10 figures (for an assignment that a group of people from my major are working on over the summer)
- Character designs for a children's game, per request of a friend
- And FINALLY - Chapter One of the Graphic Novel Covenant !

First Preview of "Covenant" - Character profile: Analise Helkiah

With the release of Chapter One of the graphic novel, Covenant, just weeks away, I thought I'd put together a little preview by introducing my main female character, Analise Helkiah. And what better way to do that then by staging an interview with her! So, let's begin.
-
One-Wing: So, Analise, tell us a little about yourself.
-
Analise: I, uhm, well, my name is Analise Helkiah -- that's obvious, I guess. I'm seventeen, and I'm a student at a private school called Millsworth.
-
One-Wing: And how do you like it there?
-
Analise: I, well...I don't, really. Not for the most part, anyhow. Most of the people who go there are really wealthy, and well... it's hard not to be jealous, since I'm not, really.
-
One-Wing: Do you have many friends?
-
Analise: Just one, really; my best friend, Emmy Klondale. I guess we get along because we both feel like we don't fit in well with everybody else. Emmy doesn't like fancy stuff much...she's more of an active-type personality. I guess I'm kind of that way too, though I'm not as, I don't know... outgoing as she is, you could say.
-
One-Wing: And what about your family, Analise?
-
Analise: I'm an only child. As for my parents, I rarely get to see them, really; they're always working. I know they mostly do it for me, so that they can afford to send me to Millsworth and such... but I get lonely a lot.
-
One-Wing: Is there anything else intersting about you that you'd like to share?
-
Analise: Well... *long pause* Honestly, not really. My life isn't very interesting at all. I sometimes wish that... I don't know, that something more exciting would happen, that maybe I could be a part of something... I don't know. I guess I wish for things a lot. I just wish things could be different.
-
One-Wing: What are some of the things you wish for?
-
Analise: Well, lots of things, really. I wish my family was better off so my parents didn't have to work so much. And I wish I were...I don't know...more noticable. Not that I want tons of attention. I suppose I just want to be significant somehow.
There's this one girl at my school; she's rich and pretty, and she gets good grades too...she just seems to have everything, and I guess I envy her a lot. She has a boyfriend too ... not that I ... I mean I guess it'd be nice if... well, never mind. Sorry if I babble too much.
-
One-Wing: Without giving away too much, at the end of the first chapter, you meet two interesting and strange new people. What are your thoughts about them?
-
Analise: I... I ... I really don't know what to think. The one guy, he's just ...really strange. He makes me feel awkward, a lot. It's hard to explain, though if you met him, you'd know what I mean, I think. As for the other person... I ...
-
One-Wing: Yes?
-
Analise: I really don't know. Part of me wonders if that person was really real at all...or just my imagination...
-
One-Wing: Well, thanks for sharing with us, Analise. We look forward to learning your story when the graphic novel Covenant debuts in a few weeks!
----
I also used Analise in the character design contest held at my school last semester. (No, I didn't win.) Here is what the entry looked like:

(Ooh, combat attire...I wonder what that could mean...)

Final Flash Project - "Rose's Debut"

Meet Rose.
-
She is the star of my final flash project. And she'd like to perform for you.
-
And so, here is the first of my two final projects for this year. The quality isn't so good jut because I had to convert my flash file into an avi in order to get it uploaded, so I lost a bit of quality there. Overall though, it's still pretty cute! And it's 50 seconds even though the project was only required to be 10. Yay for over-achieving.

Here is the clip itself (be sure to have the sound on when you watch!!):

Youtube version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQiMR1NqQxQ

I might still tweak/smooth out the motion a little, so if I do, I will update the clip.

And because the quality is so bad, I decided to include a few screenshots from the original:

Lastly, for those who are curious, here's what it looks like in the flash interface (click to enlarge):

Well, that was fun... though I would be alright without hearing that song again for a few months, hehe.

Character Drawings - Moon Dancer

I'm in the process of making lots of new stuff, but since they're not done yet, I thought I'd post some old ones. These are the characters from my full-length novel, Moon Dancer, which I finished writing about a month or two ago. In case you're curious, here's a brief synopsis: it is about a group of people called "Wulven" who live in the same way wolves do - they live in packs, follow the "social hierarchy" (Alpha, Beta, etc), hunt to survive, and select mates. The story begins when a girl from our world is transformed into one of them. Thoughout the novel, this girl tries on different identities as she attempts to find her place in the world, and ultimately who she wants to be.
Here I've drawn all the Wulven from both packs. The drawings are messy and (mostly) uncolored, but I might get back to coloring and cleaning them up later.
The Sol Pack:

In order: Blaze, Breeze, Dawn Chaser, Nova, and White Wind (who is holding Cloud)

The Lune Pack:

In order: Dusk, Eclipse, Echo, Storm, and Starfall

And lastly, the Lone Wulven (Ghost):
Not Pictured: Aurora (because I forgot to scan my drawing of her...whoops...I will do that later!) and my main character (Christine/Snow/Rain/Moon Dancer) because believe it or not, I've never drawn her by herself. She's always...well, I'd better not finish that sentence because it's a spoiler!!
-
If any of you are interested in reading my novel, leave a comment or let me know in some other way, because I'd gladly send it to you. It is 12 chapters long and about the same length as a regular novel.
-
Anyhow, I have been doing a lot of thinking about what to do with this blog, so here's what you guys can expect in the near future!
-
First - A humor drawing I threw together just for fun, which should be done tomorrow.
Next will be my two final projects for classes - my Flash Animation final, which is possibly one of the most adorable things I've ever made; I can't wait to show people! And the other will be my Intro to 3d Modeling demo reel - in other words, my very first Maya works. :)
Also, as I keep saying, chapter one of my graphic novel/manga Covenant is still in the works and nearing completion.
Other ideas that I've had: I'm thinking of making special drawings to introduce each character from Covenant, along with a written introduction of the character as well as things about them you wouldn't know from just reading the comic. They might even pose with One-Wing and be interviewed by her - oh, I have so many ideas. Well, we'll just see where I take this.
And a lot more coming too! :)

Photoshopped Drawings

Alright, here is a post of what I would consider some of my more presentable work, drawings which I've scanned in to photoshop and edited up to the best of my ability. I'm not too great at photoshop but I'd say I'm getting better overtime. Hopefully I'll be able to produce some high-quality images in the near future. But for now, here are some of my works:
This one is Caelynn Thistlewood, a character from my novel "Black Thread" which, unfortunately, I've abandoned - though my upcoming graphic novel "Covenant" is kind of a prequel of sorts.
This is probably the very first photoshopped image I was ever proud of. I especially love how perfect her eyes turned out.
You would never guess the beneath this cutie is quite a devious, deceptive little villainess... :)

This is a wallpaper I made for "Black Thread" - no, I did not draw the forest/moon background. Again, one of my very first photoshopped images so I was still experimenting a lot. I am embarassed to say I spent a long, long time just trying to get Vance's face right...because I really wanted to express his character.
The character depicted here is inspired from the assassin class from the online trading card game I play (Ederon). One of my better works. I created the background myself as well and I love how it complements the drawing itself - usually I am bad at that!

I admit it...I am pretty much a sucker for drawing couples. It is truly my favorite thing to draw. Here I've depicted a male partner for my muse... kind of sappy, I know. Anyhow, I forgot to make a black layer above the original inked lines so the line quality is not too impressive. Overall, it's not bad, but it could have been better.

Last image for today. Here is a rare moment where I depict characters that actually were not made up by me. These are the character mascots from Vocaloid, the electronic voice software from Yamaha. Each of them have been so embraced by fans that they now have their own personalities, etc, and I've become somewhat attached to them so I attempted to depict them myself.
The characters are Miku Hatsune, Kaito, Rin Kagamine, Len Kagamine, Luka Megurine, and Gakupo Kamui.
This one was just kind of fun. I like trying to fit together multiple characters in a scene where they all look good together. I kind of wish it was easier to tell that Rin and Len were holding hands, though. With Luka and Gakupo behind them, it kind of draws away from it. Anyhow, yay Vocaloid!
-
One more thing to say: I have not yet posted my very favorite photoshopped image. Why? Because it is the cover of my upcoming graphic novel/manga, Covenant, which I'm really excited about debuting soon. (Debuting? Is that a word?) Anyhow, that image will be posted the day the first chapter is finally up! Exciting! Stay tuned for that.
-
And thanks to all who have come to visit my blog so far! It is encouraging to see that people actually care to see what I do. And perhaps even people who don't know me will come visit - that would be awesome too. :)
-
Edit: Apparently, some of these pics can't be enlarged when you click on them, so I'm re-posting a few of them here:

Introducing One-Wing

Hello. You may call me One-Wing.
-
Here is a place where I've decided to post all of my artings - a gallery of sorts, a place where I can show my work to the public just in case other people enjoy them aside from me. :)
-
It is also my very first blog. That being so, I'm not altogether sure how everything works. But at least now I have my own little spot on the web!
-
So why the name "One-Wing"? Well, firstly, that is the name of my muse - the character I came up with to personify all the imagining and dreaming I constantly do. She has just one wing because she's not really in control of her flight, nor is she very good at flying. She just goes where the wind takes her. Also, she is seeking a person to perhaps serve as her other wing, someone who will help her finally ascend to the sky, rather than just dream about doing so.
-
In the near future, I will be posting the debut of my graphic novel/manga, Covenant, and I will post the link here! So keep your eye out for that.
-
The next post will include some of my older artings. :) Enjoy, and God bless.
~One-Wing
